Ceilidh Culture is Edinburgh’s annual traditional arts festival, which takes place every Spring. It celebrates all aspects of the traditional arts from music and song to dance and storytelling, as well as interactive workshops and the odd exhibition.
Ceilidh Culture is co-ordinated by the City of Edinburgh Council’s Culture and Sport Division, with support from Edinburgh Inspiring Capital. The festival is a profile-raising festival for the traditional arts community under the banner 'Ceilidh Culture' and gives all involved an opportunity to publicise their events. It is also used as a way of making the traditional arts more accessible to a wider audience, many of whom may not normally have the opportunity to get involved.
In parallel to the events running as part of Ceilidh Culture, the City of Edinburgh Council Culture and Sports Division have led on the development of a Gaelic Arts Strategy for the city. For more information on this work, and to receive a copy of this Strategy, please contact artsdevelopment@edinburgh.gov.uk, or call 0131 529 6718.
